Frigg, the goddess and wife of Odin, was the patroness of marriage, hearth, household, health, as well as the sky and clouds through which she could bring rain. Odin gave her the gift of omniscience, which allowed her to see into the future, but could not change the course of events. According to mythology, Frigg was destined to mourn twice in world history: first at the death of her son Baldur and then during Ragnarök, when Odin perished.
